Lewisville includes Old Town and a substantial outdoor area near Lewisville Lake. The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, commonly called LLELA, preserves natural land below the dam. Lake Park and East Hill Park are separate public recreation destinations identified in the city's Green Centerpiece planning material. Old Town provides a different setting for civic events, local businesses, and cultural activities.

LLELA is a managed natural area with its own visitor rules, rather than an extension of every nearby park. The city also publishes Old Town planning and public-parking information. When considering a home, compare the route to the relevant lake or nature-area entrance with the route to Old Town, and confirm current entry arrangements before bringing equipment, organizing a group, or planning a specific activity.
