Getting to know Cross Timber

Cross Timber is a town in northern Johnson County between State Highway 174 and FM 731, north of Cleburne. The present municipality incorporated in 1991. Its name should not be confused with the older Cross Timbers settlement described in historical accounts or the much larger Cross Timbers ecological region.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Use the town’s city-limit and ETJ maps to locate the property’s actual jurisdiction.
  • Consult the town’s zoning documents before planning a change of use or a new structure.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
