Getting to know Fort Worth

Fort Worth's local destinations span downtown, the Cultural District, the Stockyards, and the Trinity River corridor. The Water Gardens provide a downtown public space with several pools, while Trinity Park sits in the Cultural District near museums and the botanic garden. The Stockyards preserve a separate historic district centered on the city's livestock industry.

These destinations serve different purposes in daily life. Trinity Park connects outdoor recreation with the Cultural District, while the Water Gardens and Stockyards are places to visit rather than substitutes for a nearby neighborhood park. When comparing a particular address, map the relevant trail access, check scheduled events, and consider the street network between the places you actually use.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Identify the closest Trinity Park or Trinity Trails entrance rather than measuring only the distance to the river.
  • Review current Stockyards and downtown event schedules before assessing the area's ordinary parking and street activity.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
