Getting to know Near Southside

Near Southside is a mixed-use Fort Worth area south of downtown. Magnolia Village and South Main Village are two distinct concentrations of businesses and reused older buildings; the district also contains major medical facilities.

Near Southside, Inc. identifies additional places such as Park Place, Evans & Rosedale and Vickery Village. Cultural programming includes ArtsGoggle and Open Streets, while Fire Station Park provides a neighborhood public-space reference. The area is easier to understand as several connected villages than as one uniform corridor.

Places to know

Magnolia Village. A commercial corridor with historic buildings and local dining and businesses.

South Main Village. A separate district of reused buildings and newer activity near downtown.

Fire Station Park. A public-space destination associated with Near Southside community planning.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Compare Magnolia and South Main separately and walk the actual connections between the property and the village you expect to use.
  • Consult the city’s Near Southside design rules and current street-project information before assuming that a proposed building change or access pattern is straightforward.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
