Getting to know DISH

DISH is an incorporated Denton County town originally named Clark. The town changed its legal name in 2005 through an agreement with the satellite-television company. Its unusual name is useful context for searching records: older deeds, ordinances and references may still use Clark.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Include both Clark and DISH when researching older property or municipal records.
  • Use the town’s planning and zoning contacts to confirm the rules for the actual parcel.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
