Getting to know Fair Park

Fair Park is a large Dallas cultural and event campus with historic exhibition buildings, museums and performance venues. The Hall of State, African American Museum, Music Hall and Cotton Bowl are distinct destinations within the grounds.

The surrounding area includes the Exposition and Parry Avenue commercial streets and a light-rail station. Event days, particularly during the State Fair, change how the area is used. A neighborhood visit should distinguish the park campus from nearby residential and commercial blocks.

Places to know

Hall of State. A landmark museum building focused on Texas history.

African American Museum. A museum dedicated to African American art, history and culture.

Music Hall and Cotton Bowl. Major performance and sporting venues within the Fair Park campus.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Check event calendars and access information before comparing travel or parking conditions; an ordinary weekday and a major event day will differ.
  • Identify the property’s actual zoning and location outside or within any mapped historic designation rather than applying the campus description to every nearby block.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
