Getting to know Farmersville

Farmersville’s historic downtown has brick streets and buildings connected with its agricultural past. The restored Onion Shed on South Main Street now hosts a market and community gatherings.

The Chaparral Trail begins behind the Onion Shed and downtown park, making the historic core a starting point for a longer outdoor route. The trail connects with the Northeast Texas Trail system, but surfaces and conditions vary along the wider route and should be checked before planning an extended trip.

Places to know

Historic Onion Shed. A former agricultural loading facility used for markets and community events.

Chaparral Trailhead. A downtown trail entrance behind the Onion Shed and city park.

Historic downtown streets. Brick streets and older buildings provide the local commercial setting.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Check trail conditions and the surface of the intended segment before choosing a bicycle or planning a longer outing.
  • For a downtown or rural-area property, confirm jurisdiction, permits and access rights for the actual parcel rather than relying on proximity to the trail.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
