Getting to know Lipan

Lipan is in northwestern Hood County at the junction of FM 4 and FM 1189. The townsite was laid out in 1873 where older roads connected Weatherford, Stephenville, Granbury and Palo Pinto. That crossroads history provides a more useful sense of location than describing Lipan as part of the continuous Dallas–Fort Worth suburbs.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Confirm the lot’s town-boundary status before identifying the office responsible for improvements.
  • For surrounding acreage, check recorded access, water arrangements and wastewater systems at the parcel level.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
