Getting to know Terrell

Terrell’s historic downtown has older storefronts, murals and a commercial streetscape that can be explored on foot. The city’s visitor resources connect the district with local museums and an audio or map-based view of its history.

The Terrell Heritage Museum occupies the former Carnegie Library, built in 1904. The No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum interprets a separate part of the city’s aviation history. Downtown and the airport-related museum should be planned as distinct stops.

Check at the address, not the town name

  • Use the official visitor map and each museum’s current opening information; the two museums are not in the same building.
  • For an older property, check available improvement records and the city’s applicable permit or historic-designation requirements before planning changes.
  • School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
