University Park

University Park is a separate Dallas County city and the home of Southern Methodist University. Together with Highland Park it forms the area commonly called the Park Cities. Dallas surrounds much of the city, and a Dallas mailing designation can be used for local addresses, so the municipality must be checked separately from the postal name.

Places to know

Southern Methodist University. The university campus is a prominent local institutional landmark.

University Park municipal parks. City-managed recreation spaces have their own reservation and use requirements.

Check at the address, not the town name

• Confirm University Park jurisdiction before using Dallas permit or service information.
• Check the specific park’s reservation requirements and any campus visitor arrangements directly with the operator.
• School attendance zones, flood risk, HOA obligations, utilities and property taxes follow the exact address. Use current records: TEA school district locator, FEMA flood maps, county appraisal districts.
